Abstract

도시의 과도한 인공조명으로 인한 빛공해는 거주지역 노인의 삶의 다양한 영역에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 본 연구는 도시의 빛공해가 노인의 생활만족도에 미치는 영향을 파악하고 빛공해와 생활만족도의 관계에서 시력의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 통계청의 2020년 사회조사에서 추출한 도시거주 노인 5,314명을 표본으로 분석을 실시하였다. 분석방법으로는 빈도분석 및 기술통계분석, 상관관계분석, 그리고 다중회귀분석이 사용되었다. 연구결과 빛공해는 도시 노인의 생활만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 즉 노인이 거주지역의 빛공해에 대해 부정적으로 인식할수록 생활만족도가 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 빛공해는 시력을 매개변수로 생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과는 도시의 조명을 계획함에 있어 노인의 시력저하를 예방하고 생활만족도를 높일 수 있는 다양한 접근방안들이 필요함을 보여준다.

Light pollution from excessive artificial light in the city can influence a range of areas in the life of older persons. This study intends to identify the effects of urban light pollution on life satisfaction of older persons and to test mediating effect of vision in the relationship between light pollution and life satisfaction. For this aim, a total of 5,314 older persons living in the city who participated in 2020 Social Survey of Korea Statistics were analyzed. Analyses methods include frequency analyses, descriptive analyses, correlation analyses and multiple regression analyses. Study findings show that light pollution had significant effects on life satisfaction of urban older persons. That is, older persons’ more negative perception of light pollution in the community decreased the level of life satisfaction. Also, vision is found to mediate the effect of light pollution on life satisfaction. These results of the study suggest that various approaches are needed to prevent vision decline and to improve life satisfaction of older persons in planning urban lights.
