Parallel Mediating Effects of Academic Stress and Aggression on the Relationship between Internet Over-dependence and Depression/Anxiety among High School Students

Abstract
본 연구의 목적은 고등학생의 인터넷 과의존이 우울·불안에 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 이 관계에서 학업스트레스와 공격성의 병렬 매개효과가 유의한지 검증하는 데 있다. 연구 대상은 한국복지패널 16차 아동부가조사 자료 중에서 고등학교 재학생 320명을 대상으로 하였으며, 연구 방법은 SPSS 24.0으로 PROCESS macro model 4를 활용하여 상관분석, 회귀분석, 매개효과분석을 하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 우울·불안은 인터넷 과의존, 학업스트레스, 공격성과 정적 상관을, 인터넷 과의존은 학업스트레스 및 공격성과 정적 상관을 나타내었으나, 학업스트레스와 공격성의 상관관계는 유의하지 않았다. 둘째, 인터넷 과의존은 우울·불안에 직접적인 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 학업스트레스의 부분매개효과가 유의하였다. 셋째, 인터넷 과의존과 우울·불안의 관계에서 공격성의 부분매개효과가 유의하였다. 고등학생의 우울·불안에 대한 개입으로 인터넷 과의존, 학업스트레스, 공격성을 함께 고려하는 전략에 대해 제안하였다.
The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of high school students’ Internet over-dependence on depression/anxiety and to verify whether the parallel mediating effects of academic stress and aggression are significant in this relationship. The subjects of the study were 320 high school students from the 16th Children's Supplementary Survey data of the Korea Welfare Panel, and the research method was correlation analysis, regression analysis and mediation effect analysis using PROCESS macro model 4 with SPSS 24.0. As a result of the study, First, depression/anxiety were positively correlated with Internet over-dependence, academic stress, and aggression, and Internet over-dependence was positively correlated with academic stress and aggression, but the correlation between academic stress and aggression was not significant. Second, Internet over-dependence had a significant direct effect on depression/anxiety, and the partial mediating effect of academic stress was significant. Third, the partial mediating effect of aggression was significant in the relationship between Internet over-dependence and depression/anxiety. We proposed a strategy that considers Internet over-dependence, academic stress, and aggression as an intervention for depression/anxiety in high school students.
