Demand Analysis of University and Specialized Librarians for Data Librarian Training Education

Abstract
4차산업혁명을 주도할 차세대 기술들이 등장하면서 디지털 데이터의 폭발적 증가와 함께 도서관의 역할이 단순한 정보 제공을 넘어 데이터 관리와 활용으로 확장되고 있다. 이에 따라 도서관 영역에서도 데이터 전문사서의 필요성이 대두됨에 따라 데이터 전문사서를 양성하기 위한 새로운 교육이 필요한 실정이다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 한국형 데이터 전문사서 양성을 위한 교육 과정을 설계하기 위해서 국내의 대학과 전문도서관 사서를 대상으로 수요 조사를 수행하였고 수집한 데이터를 기반으로 다양한 분석을 시도하였다. 그 결과 사서들은 데이터 리터러시, 데이터 분석 및 활용, 데이터 큐레이션 등 다양한 역량을 갖추어야 한다는 점을 인식하고 있으며, 특히 데이터 교육의 필요성을 높게 평가하였다. 본 연구를 토대로 데이터 전문사서 양성을 위한 체계적인 교육 모델 구축과 실무 중심의 데이터 교육 프로그램 개발에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.
With the emergence of next-generation technologies leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the role of libraries has expanded beyond traditional information provision to encompass data management and utilization, alongside the exponential growth of digital data. Consequently, the necessity for data librarians has become increasingly prominent within the library sector, highlighting the urgent need for specialized training programs to cultivate such professionals. To address this need, this study conducted a demand analysis targeting librarians in universities and specialized libraries across South Korea to design an education program tailored for training Korean data librarians. Various analytical approaches were applied based on the collected data. The findings indicate that librarians recognize the necessity of acquiring diverse competencies, including data literacy, data analysis and utilization, and data curation, with a particularly strong emphasis on the importance of data education. Based on these findings, this study is expected to contribute to the establishment of a systematic educational model for training data librarians and the development of practical, field-oriented data education programs.
